A Fair Feast is a highly desirable cookbook co-ordinated and compiled by Vicky Bhogal, and comprising 70 recipes donated from the top names within the food industry and beyond. From Jamie to Nigella, Sir Elton John to Minnie Driver, Ken Hom to Keith Floyd, Richard and Judy to Dido, Margaret Attwood to Delia Smith, Jemma Kidd to Sir Terence Conran this book covers all styles of food and all the stars of food, coming together to make a difference in the best way they know how. An illustrated quote from each celebrity, introducing either their donated dish or the wider initiative and their support of it, prefaces every recipe. Alongside the beautiful Fairtrade photographs small vignettes of information are included to raise awareness of how fairer trade rules, more and better aid and the cancellation of Third World debts are needed to tackle poverty. The proceeds from the book will go towards promoting long-term food security and sustainable agriculture.

In January 2005, Vicky decided she wanted to do something more to raise awareness of and funds for Fairtrade, which she is a passionate supporter of. This book is the outcome of that dedication, which she compiled, edited and for which she also wrote the vignettes of information on Fairtrade.
70 delicious celebrity recipes were kindly donated to Vicky for this book that celebrates food and life and aims to give the producers in the developing world a chance in its own little way by giving 100% of the proceeds to the Fairtrade Foundation and Oxfam's Make Trade Fair campaign. A Fair Feast became part of the Make Poverty History campaign and features recipes from Nigella Lawson, Jamie Oliver, Delia Smith, Sir Elton John, Dido, Minnie Driver, Keith Floyd, Jane Asher and many more.
As Screenwriter and Film Director Richard Curtis says, 'A book like this, which raises awareness as well as money, is massively welcome....It's great to feel, in a delicious irony, that recipes are being used as a weapon in the fight against poverty!"
Vicky Bhogal emerged onto the food scene at 25 years old with her first cookbook, the bestselling and highly acclaimed Cooking Like Mummyji published by Simon and Schuster in 2003, a love letter to the Punjabi Indian food she was brought up on in Britain. It won the Jeremy Round award for Best First Book at the Guild of Food Writers Awards and short-listed for Best Book at the Glenfiddich Awards.
An avid campaigner of many causes, next was Vicky's brainchild celebrity recipe book for the Make Poverty History campaign, A Fair Feast in 2005, which she compiled and edited. Insisting that 100% of the proceeds go to charity, the book has raised over £100,000 for The Fairtrade Foundation and Oxfam's Make Trade Fair Campaign. 2006 saw the release of A Year of Cooking Like Mummyji, picking up and continuing to explore the much-loved thread of her first book through the recipes of British Asian communities, against the backdrop of the seasons and elegant poetry.
Vicky also created her own authentic chilled foods range, 'Just Like Mummyji's' exclusively for Tesco 2004-2007, becoming a £3.2m brand within 6 months and winning her a Grocer Award in 2006 and short-listing for Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the Asian Jewel Awards 2006, sponsored by Lloyds TSB.
Her fourth book, Flavour: A World of Beautiful Food, was published by Hodder and Stoughton in 2009. Unveiling the global breadth of her kitchen, she takes an array of delicious ingredients and shows how to combine them according to their flavour profiles in simple and imaginative ways, to create exciting new dishes. It was shortlisted as Best Hardback Book in the world under 35 Euros in the 2010 Le Cordon Bleu World Food Media Awards.
Vicky happily lives, cooks and eats in her beloved London. www.vickybhogal.com
