P/back Limp blue cloth covers with white lettering to spine and front. White DJ has black lettering and Shepard illustration, 470pp. ND but looks 1930s. Spine of cover is sunned - badly at head - and head and foot of spine are worn. Page edges are dusty and a little discoloured. DJ has discoloured spine, modest wear to extremities and a bit more severe at head of spine, which has been repaired. But overall a decent, solid copy. Ref:082572.

Emma Adeline Gurd, doctor of psychiatry and Professor of neuro-pathology at the University of Michigan. Her bookplate was designed by Canadian artist, Frank M. Armington, who with his wife Caroline, spent most of his life in France, but moved to New York (1939) toward the end of his life.

Condition: GOOD. First US printing. Sheets printed in England. Illustrated throughout with drawings by Ernest Shepard. The basis of Housman's most sucessful play. 470 pp. Good condition in fuschia cloth (sunning to the spine and a small hole, foxing and offsetting to the endpapers, a bit of light foxing to the edges of the texblock.).

THE SPINE IS SUN BLEACHED AND HAS FOXING. THERE IS A SMALL TEAR TO THE TAIL OF THE SPINE. THERE IS SOME SCUFFING AROUND THE EDGES AND THE FRONT CORNERS ARE SLIGHTLY KINKED. THERE IS SOME FOXING TO THE EDGE AND ON A FEW PAGES. THE PAGES HAVE A SMALL KINK TO THE BOTTOM CORNER. THE PAGES GENERALLY APPEAR CLEAN. ALL IN ALL A NICE EXAMPLE OF THIS BOOK.
